Licorice International Receives High Praise for Customer Service
Adam Churvis, a customer, sent us this glowing testimony. Thank you, Adam. It is our pleasure to serve you and other licorice lovers.
I would like to thank Licorice International, and especially Jared, for the finest customer service and product quality I have received from any Internet vendor of any product, ever.
I have both Type II diabetes and high blood pressure, so I have to be very careful about nutritional intake and portion control. I also have to squeeze as much licorice pleasure as I can from each bite, so I go for more intensely-flavored licorice. So I need help doing my research before a purchase.
What usually happens when I ask most vendors' customer service representatives for information outside of the norm is I get a fraction of what I asked for along with an attitude, like I'm ruining their day.
Jared, on the other hand, wanted to make absolutely sure that he was giving me every detail I asked about, both courteously and promptly. He sent me full nutritional specifications. He followed up with suggestions for other products that might fit my tastes and nutritional requirements. He checked sugar levels for suggested portions. He researched your entire product line for attributes that would match my criteria.
And as for the quality of each product I ordered, they were absolutely fresh and soft, as if there were made this morning. Layers of fresh, complex, intense licorice flavor notes throughout the chew, meltingly tender on the palate, and a finish that just kept going. Better than the licorice I used to have flown in from vendors in Holland some years ago.
So, what is the result of everything you've done to fulfill my needs?
First, the order I received today was for six products rather than my originally intended two. Second, I received no fewer than four free samples of additional products that Jared picked out for me based on our emails - each one a hit, I might add - and I will include these on my future orders. And third, I am now "brand married" to Licorice International, and see no reason whatsoever to buy my licorice anywhere else.
Again, thank you so very much for all your hard work. I will, of course, be ordering from you again and again.

Since 2002, Licorice International has been offering gourmet quality licorice online through its company website for licorice lovers throughout the United States
The company, which began in New York city , was purchased in February 2002 by two Lincoln Ardith Stuertz and Doug and Elizabeth Erlandson. The company relocated to Lincoln , Nebraska USA
Elizabeth Erlandson, Marketing Director for Licorice International had this to say about the start-up of the business online. “Licorice International was a labor of love from the very beginning. My husband loves licorice and Ardith and I loved working together. It was fun building a business, using our various skills and interests. We all had a hand in getting the business up and running.”
“We worked really hard at getting out the word about our business. None of us had ever been involved in retail or candy, but we had a lot of business experience and the willingness to learn and work hard,” says Mrs. Erlandson. “For the first 18 months, we worked out of our two homes, but eventually, we realized that if we wanted to grow, we would have to move to a commercial location. That’s when we became a “click and brick” operation, where we had not only an online store but a physical store as well.”

What's the difference between red and black licorice, besides color?

Real licorice, which is in black licorice candy, is made from the roots of the licorice plant, which can also be spelled liquorice.
Red licorice isn’t really licorice at all, except in name. It’s just a red candy, which can be made with many different flavorings, including strawberry, cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon.
Despite similarities in taste, licorice is not related to anise or fennel.
American, Chinese, and European varieties of the licorice plant are all slightly different but have many similarities.

Licorice root, which can be chewed for its taste and sweetness, is an integral part of Chinese cuisine and traditional Chinese medicine.
If you are fond of licorice candies, you might want to be aware that the ingredients used to make them can vary. European candies, for example, often are flavored with aniseed oil and may contain very little substance from licorice plants.
Real licorice, which is in black licorice candy, is made from the roots of the licorice plant, which can also be spelled liquorice.
Red licorice isn’t really licorice at all, except in name. It’s just a red candy, which can be made with many different flavorings, including strawberry, cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon.
Despite similarities in taste, licorice is not related to anise or fennel.

Licorice Is Always in Fashion

Did you guess that the dress above was made out of licorice?!?!?! Susan Lazear, Professor of Fashion at San Diego's Mesa College and founder of Cochemille Design challenged a group of designers to "use things we look at every day but don't see as fashion."
According to Visions Art Musuem, Summer 2011, designer Eduardo Torres, responded to the challenge to use nontraditional materials, by selecting black string licoirce. He conducted numerous searches on the internet and rejected idea after idea because it had been done. He used nine pounds of licorice in the creation of this dress.
